Ford Coyote vs. GM LS3 with $10k In Mods
Ford vs. Chevy has been an ongoing battle for decades. Nowaday's you've problably heard GM guys talk about how great the LS is and how it's been "touched by the hands of god himself". Or you've probably heard from Ford guys talk about how the "Coyote is the best V8 every built". Either way you cannot deny they're both pretty good engines. Well how about when you through $10k in modifications into the mix? That's just what EngineLabs did, they took a 5.0 liter Coyote and 6.2 liter LS3 and tore them down. Then they spent the same amount of money on modifactions on them both, keeping them N/A and dyno tested them afterwards.
Whilte the Coyote has a more modern duel over head cam setup and makes most of it's power from 4,000 to 7,800 rpm, the LS3 has the traditional pushrod setup that is "as old as dirt" some would say producing it's power from 3,000 to 6,800 rpm. But it works, so why not? Both engines perform well in their own rights and combinations. But check out the video to see who the winner overal along with the modifactions that EngineLabs did. They breakdown peak horsepower and torque, average horsepower and torque, along with power per cubic inch and power gains over stock.
