What Next for Aaron Kaufman After Gas Monkey Garage?

Aaron Kaufman Bio

Aaron was born on January 26th, 1982 in Texas and is a well known TV "personality" from the Discovery show, Fast N Loud. He helped Richard Rawlings, owner of the Gas Monkey Garage grow the business over the last 13 years. Aaron is a self-taught mechanic and met Rawlings at the mechanic repair shop he was working out of at the time. Rawlings brought one of his hot rods in for repairs and asked for the best mechanic to work on it. The best mechanic was Aaron and they met, little did they know just a short time later they would be working together building the Gas Monkey Garage/Fast N Loud empire.

Family Life

Aaron usually keeps his personal business out of the public eye, but it is known that he is currently single. He does not have a wife but did recently end a long time relationship with his girl friend, Lindsay J. Aaron hasn't been seen hanging out with any other ladies either. He is known to be a fun loving guy who has an epic long beard and mustache and is a dedicated mechanic and craftsman.

He takes great pride in his work restoring classics and building some of the best restomods the industry has seen over the last decade. Aaron has also done some professional racing and is estimated to have a net worth of around $3 million dollars. That is really just here say.

Main Street Shop

In 2011 Aaron started his own performance restoration shop called "Main Street Shop". Here they pride themselves in reincarnating old cars that would otherwise end up in the scrap yard. Some of the restorations consist of nearly building a brand new car from the ground up and just simply using the existing production shell. These are mostly called "Resto-Mods". Aaron is also an avid motorcycle builder and has been featured on shows with the lives of Jessie James and the guys from Orange County Choppers.

Kaufman has surrounded himself with more experienced hot rod builders to help him improve his craftsmanship. He is actually a self proclaimed "Hippie" who before hot-rodding wanted to be a park ranger. But he became hooked on building custom motorcycles and hot rods and has made a successful career out of it both on and off TV.

Kaufman Departure from Gas Monkey Garage & Fast N Loud

In the beginning of Fast N Loud the Gas Monkey Garage built customs, rat rods and some wild resto mods. Lately on the show you might notice there building more high-end original and exotic cars. This could be partly due to their growing fame which is grabbing attention of those with deeper pockets. While Kaufman isn't totally into these types of builds, he has remained positive while the camera's are rolling. But you've probably noticed his absence from of these builds. This is probably due to the constant time constraints and ridiculous budget constraints Rawlings has put on the shop and their high-end builds and this has got to be taking a toll and could very well be why Aaron Kaufman left.

Heres what Richard Rawlings had to say:

Richard here. As you may have heard by now, the Bearded Wonder has decided to leave Gas Monkey Garage. I want you all to know that it was not my decision and came completely out of left field. Aaron has been a part of Gas Monkey Garage since day one, and it will be a painstaking process moving forward without his talents. It is a big hit to GMG, but please note that it would be an insult to everyone here at Gas Monkey who has been putting in the work these past few years to say that we can’t do it without him.

Gas Monkey Garage is not one person, it’s not two people, it’s a team. AK helped me build GMG, and he helped build the team here, which is why I’m confident we will continue to crank out killer rides week after week. You know I like to keep the drama away from the cameras, and that’s something I’ll continue to strive for. You won’t see a degenerating team or a bunch of arguing. We are about the cars, brand and family!

To our fans, I want to say thanks for all of the continued support all these years, and keep watching because we aren’t going anywhere! Wishing nothing but good luck to Aaron and all past, current and future monkeys!

And to Aaron, I would like to sincerely express my appreciation for the 13 years you put into GMG. We worked long and hard from the bottom to the top. Not everyday was good, and we had our share of disagreements, but it has been a hell of a ride and I would not change a minute of it. Neither of us could have achieved this without the other. Thank You, Sir.

What is Kaufman doing after Gas Monkey Garage?

Well there some rumors going around about him joining the Misfit Garage and while it could be possible since there are former Gas Monkey Garage employees there, let's be serious. Aaron has his own shop Main Street Shop and his personal success with that is probably enough to land him his own show and enough customer base to more than pay the bills. As an owner he could be rewarded handsomely, unlike he was at Gas Monkey Garage having just been an employee.

Sure this is all just speculation, but there was a statement recently released from the Discovery Network saying “We wish him the best and hope to continue to work with him”. That is a not so subtle clue that there is something in the works to keep the talented Kaufman in the Discovery family. But, if that does happen then everyone wins, even Richard Rawlings and Gas Monkey Garage because this will gain them publicity.
