BMW Motorcycle Recall
BMW and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have decided to recall over 43k motorcycles April 21st 2015. The issues is with the rear wheel allimunm flange. It may crack if the mounting bolts are overtightened. This can cause the mounting bolts to loosen unsecuring the rear wheel from the motorcycle. This will cause a loss of stability greatly increasing the rish of a crash.
What do owners do?
BMW will notify current owners of the recall. Owners can goto any BMW dealer to have the exisiting alumium rear wheel flange replaced with a stronger steel one free of charge. If you are an owner of an BMW motorcycle and have not received a notice please double check to see if your motor is affected. Owners can contact BMW at 1-800-525-7414 or go online to BMW's Motorrad USA site and input the vin to see if that model is affected. BMW Motorcycle Recall Search Website.
