Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Chevelle For Sale from Fast and Furious 4
The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, from Fast and Furious 4, will cross the block at Dallas’ Leake Auction on April 18th, and could earn a pretty penny for its role in the popular street racing series.
As Fast and Furious 7 continues to make headlines for it's recording breaking ticket sales (over $200 million domestically), some of the car collecting fans of the series will be please to know that some of the cars from the movies are up for sale. Dominic Toretto's 1970 Chevelle is going up for auction and Paul Walker’s iconic R34 Nissan GT-R from 2009′s Fast and Furious remains up for sale, and it isn’t the only car from the movie with a hefty price tag. These cars are expected to sell in the 800k to 1.5 millon dollar range.
While Dominic Toretto might be known for his love of the 1970 Dodge Charger, Vin Diesel’s character takes to the blacktop in a 1970 Chevelle SS in Fast and Furious 4. One of the iconic scenes Dominic's Chevelle swaps paint with Paul Walker’s GT-R. According to ClassicCars, this Chevelle is actully a 1971 built to ’70 specifications for the movie and was sourced as an exact backup to the film’s stunt car for the street racing "bridge scene", in case the first Chevelle didn’t survive filming.
The Chevelle was fitted with a roll cage, Hotchkis suspension, Wilwood brakes, as well as a special drift brake, matching the same fitments of the Chevelle hero car. Luckily, the stunt car survived the shot and this Chevelle never had to attempt jumping the bridge. The car was built by Frank Collins of Cinema Vehicles and consigned to the auction by owner Jeff Allen (star of CNBC’s The Car Chasers), who told ClassicCars that he has owned 15 cars from the Fast and Furious films. His reason for selling? He’s already seen half a dozen cars that he’d like to own from Fast and Furious 7.
